Hand Tied Extension Home Care

Washing and Drying

When it comes to washing and styling your hair with added extensions, it's crucial to follow the instructions given by your certified stylist and use only approved products to avoid any damage. It is recommended to use the specific wet hair care line provided by your licensed professional.

  • Rinse twice as much due to the increased amount of hair.

  • Allow conditioner to sit on the added hair for 2-3 minutes.

  • When drying, gently towel dry the hair as added hair retains more water than natural hair.

  • Air or rough dry at least 60% before brushing to prevent tangling.

  • Avoid washing or blow-drying your hair upside down to prevent tangling.

  • Focus on keeping root area dry to maintain healthy scalp while also to prevent mold and mildew.

Coloring

It's important to avoid chemical treatments at home or by stylists unfamiliar with your extensions as it can lead to damage. Chemicals can get trapped in the attachment cylinders, potentially causing harm to the extensions and your natural hair. All coloring should be done by a certified stylist to ensure safety and longevity of the extensions.

Cutting

Incorrect cutting techniques by stylists not experienced with your custom hair can damage the extensions. Always consult your licensed professional for any trimming needs.

Maintenance Program

Regular maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks is essential to prevent tangling and maintain the health of your hair and extensions. It's crucial to have the attachment cylinders adjusted by your stylist to avoid issues.

Brushing Technique

  • Brush from the ends up to the shaft to prevent pulling on the attachment cylinders.

  • Use a paddle or boar bristle brush for best results.

Swimming

  • Braid or tie your hair before swimming to prevent tangling.

  • Swim cap recommended to avoid harsh waters absorbing into your hair.

  • Rinse hair before and after swimming, and apply a detangler post-swim.

Sleeping

Sleep on a smooth, non-abrasive surface to protect your extensions while sleeping. Avoid going to bed with wet hair and consider braiding or tying your hair up.
